Refining My Brand Story with Amey from Heart Content

When you run your own business, it’s easy to get caught up in the doing. Serving clients, managing projects, juggling deadlines - before you know it, months (or years!) have passed since you last looked at your own brand.

That’s exactly where I found myself earlier this year.

Why I Decided to Work on My Brand Story

I’ve built a business I love. I get to work with incredible clients. But, whenever I tried to explain my brand story - the why behind what I do - it felt flat. I could list my services. I could show my portfolio. But the heart of my business? That part was fuzzy.

I knew something had to change.

The Problem with an Unclear Brand Story

Here’s the thing: if you can’t clearly articulate your brand story, it becomes harder to:

  • Attract the right clients

  • Explain the value of your work

  • Show up confidently online

And I know I’m not alone. So many business owners are brilliant at their craft but struggle when it comes to telling their own story. We’re too close to it, too wrapped up in the day-to-day.

That’s why I reached out to Amey from Heart Content.

Why Story Matters

Working with Amey reminded me that a brand story isn’t just a paragraph on a website. It’s the foundation of everything:

  • Connection – it helps people feel something when they discover you.

  • Clarity – it simplifies what you do into something memorable.

  • Consistency – it becomes the thread running through all your marketing and client touchpoints.

A Small Step for You

If you’re reading this and thinking, “That’s me. My brand story is fuzzy too,” here’s a simple exercise you can try:

👉 Ask yourself: If I had 30 seconds to explain what I do and why it matters, what would I say?

If your answer feels long-winded, vague, or hard to pin down, it might be time to revisit your story (and book a chat with Amey).

Looking Ahead

Over the next few posts, I’ll be sharing more about my process with Amey - the surprising lessons, the clarity I gained, and how I’m weaving that story back into my business.

Because refining your brand story isn’t just about marketing. It’s about confidence. And when you know your story, everything else becomes so much easier.

Have you ever revisited your brand story? I’d love to know what you discovered in the process - drop a comment or send me a message!
